“Methinks the moment my legs begin to move, my thoughts begin to flow.”
~ Henry Thoreau

After several trips on the Camino de Santiago, I now have personal evidence of the benefits and the art and science of walking. It is why I keep returning. It is why I wrote my book ‘An Awakening Walk’, and it is why I now take other people regularly on the ancient pilgrimage. It is here you will experience healing, connect with nature, open your senses and chakras. I recently stumbled on several studies that provide scientific evidence that walking, in fact, is a powerful healer. Here is what I found.

“All Great Thoughts are Conceived by Walking.”
~ Nietzche

I was drawn to my first Camino from a deep stirring in my soul. I had some lingering issues that I had tried to meditate away, self-help away, and yet, year after year, they persisted. I had no idea that this solo pilgrimage would teach me self-love, birth a book, and a new career as a tour guide! I truly believe that the Camino is magical and mystical. That is why I keep returning.
The musical soothing sounds of nature will quiet the tired and over stimulated brain, and become a soothing salve. Mental fatigue recovers and creativity goes into overdrive. Many people report that a struggle to solve a stubborn problem suddenly gets a shot of inspiration as they walk. There is a shift between models of thought, increased attention, and restored memory. The body recovers from the toxic stream of adrenaline that bathes our tired organs from an over-stressed and overstimulated world.

You will connect with your body in a new way. Stuck energy moves. Depression is lifted. You feel lighter. I began to listen to the language of my body. After the first Camino, I developed an intimate relationship, new awareness, and appreciation for my body. Before the Camino I engaged in negative self-talk. I went from bullying and ignoring my body to unconditional love and appreciation for all of me. This was an epic shift.

Art and Science of Walking

After taking a few groups as a tour guide on the Camino I observed significant changes my fellow travelers experienced and began to see patterns. Social networks are strengthened. Married partners emerge more in love and connected. Some travelers have even found their soul mates, or made best friends along the trails of this sacred walk.

If you have ever wanted to experience the Camino de Santiago, but didn’t want to go alone, reach out and sign up for one of my upcoming trips. All travel and accommodations are arranged for you. All you have to do is show up and step into the magic and transformative experience of a lifetime. Come with me.
